Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, led by President Choi Gwan-ho, said it has finished replacing aging lifts on container cranes and completed a safety inspection and operator training. The lifts passed an occasional inspection, and Gwangyang West Container Terminal staff received practical training with the manufacturer.
What was replaced?
The authority said the work was done to keep container cranes operating safely and to improve the work environment. Aging lifts that were discontinued and difficult to maintain were replaced with new equipment so users are safer and the machines can be operated and maintained more reliably.
After the replacement, an occasional inspection under the relevant standards returned a pass. The authority said this confirmed the safety and normal operation of the new lifts.
What training was given?
Practical training linked with the manufacturer was given to on-site workers at the operator, Gwangyang West Container Terminal (GWCT). It covered main functions and operation, daily checks and maintenance, safety rules during use, and what to do when an abnormal situation occurs. Practice on the installed lifts was included.
An authority official said the replacement and training strengthened the basis for safe container-crane operation, and that port facilities will continue to be checked and managed to keep the port environment safe.
