JD Logistics Launches Full-Scale Operations in Korea with Smart Fulfillment Centers in Incheon and Icheon
JD Logistics, the logistics arm of China’s largest e-commerce company JD.com, has officially entered the South Korean logistics market. Through its local branch JD Korea, the company has launched two self-operated logistics centers in Incheon and Icheon, offering 3PL services and e-commerce fulfillment solutions customized for Korean businesses.
The Icheon fulfillment center is specialized for pet commerce logistics. It features advanced automation technologies such as automated packing machines and wrapping systems, dramatically enhancing picking and packing efficiency. This center was developed in just one month to support pet-related brands that were facing disruption due to issues with previous logistics partners. JD Korea swiftly deployed capital and manpower to establish a fully operational alternative system.
Given the shelf-life sensitivity of pet food, the facility uses a batch-based inventory system that ensures accurate stock rotation and freshness. Most notably, JD introduced its AI-powered smart warehouse system in Korea. This system automatically relocates fast-moving products to optimal picking zones and continuously reshapes the storage layout based on real-time demand forecasts. As a result, pet products can now be delivered to customers in Seoul and parts of Gyeonggi Province within just 12 hours.
The Incheon center serves a different purpose. It acts as a 3PL hub for global consumer brands and a dedicated export logistics center for Korean beauty companies. This warehouse enables bonded storage, international fulfillment, and integrated cross-border logistics services, helping Korean products reach international markets more efficiently.
Beyond domestic services, JD Logistics Korea is connecting Korean products to Chinese consumers through JINGDONG Worldwide, JD.com’s global cross-border e-commerce platform. Korean exporters benefit from JD’s triple incentive policy: zero customs duties, no platform fees, and logistics subsidies. This approach significantly lowers the entry barriers to the Chinese market, offering a one-stop solution from warehousing to delivery.
JD currently operates over 100 overseas warehouses across 19 countries, including key markets like the United States, Japan, and Europe. The company’s global logistics network supports 1-to-3 day international shipping, with some locations even offering same-day cross-border delivery.
A JD Korea representative stated, “The Korean e-commerce sector demands speed and precision. With JD’s automation expertise and global operational experience, we’re confident in delivering real value to local businesses.” A pet commerce partner added, “JD clearly understands our specialized needs. Their support allowed us to scale during major promotions while maintaining stability.”
Ranked 47th on the Fortune Global 500, JD.com is globally recognized for its logistics excellence. With this bold expansion into Korea, JD Logistics is positioning itself as a key player in the Asian e-commerce logistics ecosystem.
